Oasis: Comeback tour started in Cardiff – “It’s good to be back”

Cardiff. After 16 years, the cult Britpop band Oasis has returned to the stage. In front of an ecstatic, sold-out crowd, the group, led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, performed the first concert of their highly anticipated reunion tour in Cardiff – and fittingly began the performance with the song "Hello" and the chorus "it's good to be back."

Headlines about disputes between the Gallagher brothers flashed across a screen before the words "The guns have fallen silent" appeared. Then the band took the stage to deafening cheers. There, the brothers kept their distance from each other. "Turn around," Liam urged the crowd before launching into the track "Cigarettes and Alcohol."

If the brothers can stick together long enough, the two planned nights at Cardiff's 70,000-seat Principality Stadium on Friday and Saturday will mark the start of a tour of Great Britain and Ireland. This will be followed by stops in North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. The final concert is scheduled for November 23 in Sao Paulo.

In 2009, Noel Gallagher left the band, which had achieved worldwide fame in the 1990s with hits like "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back in Anger," after a dispute with his brother. Even before Oasis' breakup, the brothers' relationship was said to be strained, and after the split, they reportedly didn't speak to each other for years.
